Classic with nails: See here how we varnish, stretch and handcraft a Dutch Art Giclée Canvas Reproduction in our unique style classic with nails. After stretching the Giclée canvas print on 2 cm thick stretcher bars, we finish the sides of this reproduction of Portrait of Alida Christina Assink by Jan Adam Kruseman in a traditional way; we use custom-made nails and hammer them in by hand for that old fashioned look.

Giclée printing: Our reproductions are printed on museum-quality canvas of 380g. We use a Giclée print technique that guarantees over 100 years of colour permanence. The HDR inks are sprayed on the canvas layer by layer, with 800 nozzles per colour x 10 channels for a total of 8000 nozzles.

Varnish: We then apply several coats of varnish by hand to make the colours come to life and to protect against moisture and UV light. The canvas is stretched by hand on stretcher bars made with timber from sustainable forestry.

Portrait of Alida Christina Assink

This reproduction on canvas of Portrait of Alida Christina Assink by Jan Adam Kruseman is made with the greatest possible care to ensure that the colours are very close to the original painting that is hanging in the Rijksmuseum. Dressed in the latest fashion, Alida Assink poses here for the society painter Kruseman. The clothing gives her a stylish silhouette: broad shoulders, puff sleeves and a hoop skirt make her waist seem very slim. The large belt buckle further accentuates this. Kruseman admired English portraiture. The rural setting with a hunting dog and a garden vase is derived from English models.
