Giclée printing: Watch the video
We print the reproductions on museum-quality canvas of 380g. Printing a Giclée is done with the utmost precision. The HDR inks are sprayed on the canvas layer by layer, with 800 nozzles per colour x 10 channels for a total of 8000 nozzles. This technique guarantees over 100 years of colour permanence. The end result is characterized by great fineness and image depth, very high sharpness, detail and deep colours.

Varnish: Watch the video
We then apply several coats of varnish by hand to make the colours come to life and to protect against moisture and UV light. The canvas is stretched by hand on stretcher bars made with timber from sustainable forestry.

About the original artwork
The Sower

This reproduction on canvas of The Sower by Vincent van Gogh is made in close cooperation with the Krӧller-Müller Museum, where the original painting is hanging in the Van Gogh Gallery. The French painter Jean-François Millet painted The Sower in 1850. Vincent admired Millet very much and painted his Sower inspired by Millet's Sower.

First he makes dozens of drawings using dark, gray shades just like Millet.

When Van Gogh is in Arles, he wants to paint a modern version of The Sower with radiant colors and intense contrasts.

The focus is on the field with its earth clods; Vincent painted this in blue-violet and orange paint, by means of thick brush strokes he creates relief.

The sun illuminates the scene with the working sower as the eternal source of light and energy.

Behind the sower, which sows the plowed land with a broad arm gesture, there is a still fresh wheatsheaf.
Van Gogh emphasizes the cycle of nature and life. The theme of the sower is also religious for Vincent: the sower on the land is a model for sowing the word of God.
