Giclée printing: Watch the video
We print the reproductions on museum-quality canvas of 380g. Printing a Giclée is done with the utmost precision. The HDR inks are sprayed on the canvas layer by layer, with 800 nozzles per colour x 10 channels for a total of 8000 nozzles. This technique guarantees over 100 years of colour permanence. The end result is characterized by great fineness and image depth, very high sharpness, detail and deep colours.

Varnish: Watch the video
We then apply several coats of varnish by hand to make the colours come to life and to protect against moisture and UV light. The canvas is stretched by hand on stretcher bars made with timber from sustainable forestry.

About the original artwork
Narcissus

This reproduction on canvas of Narcissus by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio is made with the greatest possible care to ensure that the colours are very close to the original painting. Narcissus shows the Greek myth about the beautiful man Narcissus who, whilst walking in the forest, falls in love with his reflection in a pond. However, every time he reaches out to his reflection, it disappears. He pines away beside the pond, unable te embrace his reflection, and eventually dies. Caravaggio portrays Narcissus hunched over the pond, his hand cupping the water possibly in an attempt to embrace his reflection.

As we see more often in Caravaggio’s work, the background of the painting is dark, whereas Narcissus is bathed in light, almost like an actor in a play. He has a look of melancholy on his face, almost as if he knows the impossibility of his desire.
