Johannes Vermeer is a Dutch painter from the 17th century. He is especially famous for his use of natural light. He painted meticulous compositions of interiors featuring one or two figures, mostly women. Vermeer could render the way light plays on objects like few others. In View of Delft, Vermeers emphasis is not on people, but on the architecture of his hometown.
