Giclée printing: Watch the video
We print the reproductions on museum-quality canvas of 380g. Printing a Giclée is done with the utmost precision. The HDR inks are sprayed on the canvas layer by layer, with 800 nozzles per colour x 10 channels for a total of 8000 nozzles. This technique guarantees over 100 years of colour permanence. The end result is characterized by great fineness and image depth, very high sharpness, detail and deep colours.

Varnish: Watch the video
We then apply several coats of varnish by hand to make the colours come to life and to protect against moisture and UV light. The canvas is stretched by hand on stretcher bars made with timber from sustainable forestry.

About the original artwork
Portrait of Joseph Roulin

This reproduction on canvas of Portrait of Joseph Roulin by Vincent van Gogh is made in close cooperation with the Krӧller-Müller Museum, where the original painting is hanging in the Van Gogh Gallery. Joseph Roulin was the postmaster at the station in Arles. Because Van Gogh frequently send paintings to his brother Théo in the Netherlands, he and Joseph became close friends. Vincent describes him as a man who is not bitter, not melancholy, not perfect, not happy and also not always perfectly honest. But he is such a good fellow, so wise, so feeling and so faithful. Vincent painted six portraits of Joseph (Between August 1888 and April 1889), three of which had flowers in the background. In this particular portrait he painted summer flowers.

The poppies, cornflowers, daisies and roses are painted fairly precisely, in contrast to Joseph's face and full beard with the stylized curls. Here, Van Gogh has applied the paint with a quick, flowing brushstroke. Van Gogh, always in need of models, was very happy that Joseph, his wife, and his three children were willing to model for him. He painted more than twenty portraits of the Roulin family.<
