Classic with nails: See here how we varnish, stretch and handcraft a Dutch Art Giclée Canvas Reproduction in our unique style classic with nails. After stretching the Giclée canvas print on 2 cm thick stretcher bars, we finish the sides of this reproduction of Ginger Pot with Chrysanthemums by Jan Mankes in a traditional way; we use custom-made nails and hammer them in by hand for that old fashioned look.

Giclée printing: Our reproductions are printed on museum-quality canvas of 380g. We use a Giclée print technique that guarantees over 100 years of colour permanence. The HDR inks are sprayed on the canvas layer by layer, with 800 nozzles per colour x 10 channels for a total of 8000 nozzles.

Varnish: We then apply several coats of varnish by hand to make the colours come to life and to protect against moisture and UV light. The canvas is stretched by hand on stretcher bars made with timber from sustainable forestry.

Ginger Jar with Chrysanthemums

This reproduction on canvas of Ginger Jar with Chrysanthemums by Jan Mankes is made with the greatest possible care to ensure that the colours are very close to the original painting that is hanging in the Museum MORE. Jan Mankes loved nature and painted what he found close to home. Here Mankes depicts the soft essence of the chrysanthemum, two centuries after the flower was brought to our country by Jacob Layn.

This plant originates from China and Japan. The flower was highly regarded in these countries. In fact, the chrysanthemum was so special in China that only nobles were allowed to own and take care of the plant. The flower is the national symbol of Japan and in many other parts of Asia, the chrysanthemum symbolizes a long and happy life.
